I grew up playing in bands around NoVa in the 80's and 90's. We played lousy gigs and always had a difficult time saving up enough money to record anywhere -even someone's home project studio.
Make no mistake, Roughage is one of those home project studios, but with a decidely different approach. I made a promise to myself back then that when I could afford to offer better sound quality and a more enjoyable experience to artists who are in a similar financial state now as my bands were then, or who are polished enough to record but lack studio experience, I would try to provide the kind of help that seemed nonexistent then. Namely, an affordable and welcoming recording refuge that doesn't require you to share a half-filled basement with the family laundry facilities. This is that place.
I try to keep my standards high and my rates low. My place isn't fancy, but you can get great sounds from this room. There's zero attitude here. It's ok with me if you think of my place as a proving ground, but you can safely set your expectations higher than that. If you can hear it in your head, I'd like to help you produce it so that everyone else can hear it, too.
